Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
